Iron Gauntlet is now awesome

Haven't read the full file yet, but a description of the format is HERE.

Highlights:
-play 3-list, 50 pts event where each list must be played at least once
-cut to top 4 and play single elim semifinals and finals games (the "Gauntlet" rounds)
-in the Gauntlet rounds, you get your opponent, look at their three lists, and choose a caster
-after both players have revealed their casters, they get 20 minutes to build a new, 75 point list from the models in their original three lists to play against their opponent
-Deathclock, no specialists, must be fully painted

That sounds pretty epic. Although I doubt I will make it to too four undefeated players anytime soon. Haha.

I bought the Gencon tickets for funzies...I am trying o figure out if it will be worth it. I might need a hotel room Thursday night now.

Nick's ready! Here's his list:

Mortenebra (Tier 4)
2 Warwitch sirens
15 Slayers

He needs to borrow 14 and one Witch if anybody has a spare.

I'd only need to borrow 8. And I have 3 War Witches.

The issue is that you'd need 14 Slayers scattered throughout your 3 50pt lists. I could get 10 in easy - but I'm not sure I could justify bringing 4 Slayers in my other two lists.

Boo, I don't like the escalating list thing. You must take models from one of your other two lists, so in order to fill 25 points I must take the jankiest lists in Minions to fit models outside of FA.

I only skimmed through the rules, so I may have missed something. Can you take units outside of their FA if the other lists had that many any it? Is that how the 75pt army works? If so, I think minions would be pretty sweet.

A 75pt list with six units of slaughterhousers, nine if you go Thornfall Alliance or six Gatorman Posse's, nine if you go Blindwater. Those would be pretty hard to chew through. Of course, if that isn't how it works and your saying that with the limited FA you'd be hard pressed to assemble a killer 75pt list, then that makes since.

A maximum limit of three of each unit could make it difficult to hit 75pts without going fairly beast heavy. Of course, 75pts of Razor Boars could make Midas's feat pretty awesome.

The short answer is no. You cannot take units out of FA.

But Nick...think of the awsomness of Arkadious at 75pts with 15 razorboars.

So at 75 you could fit three of every unit in there and still have room for two heavies and a lesser. Plus all of those units would have advance deploy. That doesn't seem too bad. That many bone grinders seems like a waste, but you could always drop them in lieu of solos or more beasts. Why would the list be janky?

Why not Terminus and 150 McThralls?

Because you'd have to take 50 McThralls in each of your other three lists .

To Nick's point, it is definitely a problem for Minions - 75 pts is a LOT for the models they have access to. But they weren't showing up in numbers to Iron Gauntlet events, anyway; I'd be willing to bet that PP was willing to write them off for this.

My problem is that "fully painted" part...
