Spell Draft Format Spreadsheet

Since Privateer Press has published the Spelldraft format, I've made a Google Docs spreadsheet for card generation.  It doesn't have all the spells populated, but you can see the functionality and I've been using it to gen cards with no problems.

If anyone wants to help add data to the spreadsheet, let me know and I'll grant you write access.

The way you use the Pack Generator sheet:
1.  We need to force Google to generate a new list of random numbers.  What I do is select the top most current random number (cell B4) and highlight the other random number cells.  I then Fill Down (control-D).  It will gen new numbers.

2.  Highlight the new random numbers.  Copy them.  Go to cell D4 under the word "Pack".  Paste Special (not just normal Paste!) and choose to paste the values.  The spell names should change.

3.  Look at the Cards page.  Any of the random spells that doesn't has data can be modified in the first tab.

The easiest way to force the random numbers to refresh is to highlight cell B4, and press CTRL-R.

However, neither method work unless you have the rights to edit the document, since you're actually changing values.

So if anyone wants to do this, you'll need to first make a copy of the spreadsheet.

Has anyone figured out how to do this without duplicating cards? Alternatively, we could just print them ALL, but that sounds awful.

I've been trying to track down how other games do fake online drafts for Magic and other games.  There has to be some algorithm that could be used to determine packs (usually based on rarity, but we can strip that).

Of course I could also implement a simple counter for each card somehow.  If a card gets generated for a pack, a counter would increment and that number would be less likely to come up in the future.

I'd probably have to refresh my Visual Basis knowledge to do that though, and that's effort.

It contains all the spells and the data.  However, it's not the format that I was using.  I'm not sure if it's better to take that data and re-format it for our spreadsheet... or make a new random pack generator using that data as it stands.

It'll take longer to reformat this one than it will to add spell information to yours, I think. And it needs reformatting - aside from looking up spells, this wouldn't do us much good as is.

Does it need reformatting?  The columns are all in the same order.  Just need to add a column for # for the vlookups to work, and add animi.

The only other thing it's missing is the column that says who has the spell, but we don't really need that if we don't need to look up the spells anyway.

I just meant that printing it out as is would give you 1" strips of paper, which are less good than 3x4 cards.

That what the Cards tab is for that Scott made.  You have one tab that is just data, then another tab that has the formatting of the cards.  One more tab does the random calculations, and the cards tab uses vlookups with those numbers to pull the spell data and put it in a card format.

In fact, I'm going to have this done within an hour.  We'll just need to fill in the animus information and we'll be done.
